General Information

Founded in 1869, the Italian Society of Ophthalmology is a legally recognized non-profit Moral Entity, reference point for more than 7,000 Italian ophthalmologists, and the oldest specialized Scientific Society in Italy.
In 2019 SOI will be celebrating 150 Years of its foundation and on the occasion of such a special anniversary the 17th SOI International Congress will take place in Rome on 22-25 May, 2019 at the “Roma Convention Center La Nuvola”, an architectural masterpiece signed by Massimiliano Fuksas.

How to participate in the congress

To participate at the 17 th SOI International Congress, the exhibition and all the congress events, it is necessary to be registered, tohand in the application form to the organizing secretariat and to be up to date with the entry fees (as in the following table).
The Congress is reserved to: ophthalmologists, postgraduate students in ophthalmology, non-ophthalmologist medical specialists, biologists, orthoptists, nurses, students in medicine and orthoptics.

Registered participants will be provided with a personal nominal badge with a photograph. Access to the exhibition and congress areas will not be allowed if there is no photo on the badge.


All the events will be completely free of charge for this edition of SOI National Congress. Therefore, it is possible to participate in the Congress by paying only the registration fee at the Congress, as indicated in the following table For all SOI members the Congress is completely free of charge.
